Hazelton Area is Booming!

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Listen closely - I hear the boom! Deer season in North Dakota began at noon Saturday, November 9 and continues for a couple weeks.

This area has a wealth of deer population. I have seen many blaze orange-attired citizens out and about.  Blaze orange and pickups are the fashion statement of the season. Pickups (often referred to as ‘trucks’ if you are less “ruralized”) are the preferred means of travel during this particular ‘booming season’.  I am enjoying the sights and reactions of the hunters as they spend time in town after regular hunting hours.

Yes, I appreciate the deer harvest, for many reasons. Basically I love the people that hunt. They are conservationists at heart. This sport controls deer population. These harvester’s talents begin with marksmanship and end with the talent of sausage making. Yummy.

Deer are beautiful but dangerous to travelers. I find the heavy deer population stressful while daily traveling our North Dakota highways. Thanks deer hunters for making my life less stressful and more than likely accident free.

Fishing, hunting pheasant, duck, partridge and deer are some sports available in our area.  Want a place to set up and call home for a few days: Try Hazelton Park right off Highway 83 with camping facilities, or the Hazelton Boat Dock Campground on 1804

I welcome all to North Dakota, Emmons County and to Hazelton.  Start making your plans today for next year’s hunting seasons. Come to Hazelton and enjoy all the extras offered by this small community with a big heart.  See you soon.

Happy Hunting, and also Happy Thanksgiving
